Mutton Curry Recipe | How To Make Mutton Curry At Home

Mutton Curry Recipe Mutton curry is a very popular non vegetarian dish which is quite famous in northern India. The mutton meat curry is made in different variations across all the states of India and people who are fond of mutton, this dish is perfect for their lunch or dinner or parties as well. Tendered mutton pieces and rich spicy gravy makes it more tastier and mouth watering. So let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Mutton Curry Recipe

  • Lamb or Goat meat = 800 gm, washed and clean
  • Ginger and garlic paste = 2 tbsp
  • Curd = 200 gm, thick
  • Red chili powder = 3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder = 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder = 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Green cardamom pods = 4
  • Cloves = 3
  • Bay leaf = 2
  • Black peppercorns = 8
  • Onion = 1, large size, sliced
  • Green chilies = 4, slit
  • Tomatoes = 3 tomato’s puree
  • Water = as needed

Method Of Making

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, add washed and clean meat pieces in it and then add thick curd, ginger and garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and garam masala powder. Mix all the spices well with the meat pieces.

Step 2

Cover the bowl and keep it aside for 1 hour.

Step 3

Take a pressure cooker, add oil in it and heat it up.

Step 4

Ones the oil gets heated, add bay leaf, black peppercorns, cloves. Saute these whole spices for a minute and then add sliced onion in it.

Step 5

Saute the onion till it turn golden brown in color.

Step 6

Further add marinated meat and cook it on a high flame for 5 minutes. Continue to stir it.

Step 7

Now add tomato puree and mix it with the meat. Cook it till oil starts releasing.

Step 8

Add salt if needed and then add 2 cups of water, slit green chilies. Let the water boil and then cover the lid of the pressure cooker.

Step 9

Cook it on high flame till it takes 3 to 4 whistles and then turn the flame medium. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes more.

Step 10

Release the pressure and then transfer it to a serving plate.

Your mutton curry is now perfectly cooked. Serve it hot By garish it with some fresh coriander leaves and serve it with steamed rice, naan or chapati. Enjoy.
