Moong Dal Idli Recipe | How To Make Moong Dal Idli

Moong Dal Idli Recipe Idli is something which is delicious and good for health, both at the same time. This moong dal idli is good option for the healthy breakfast. A popular breakfast of South Indian region which is served with sambhar or coconut chutney is really amazing. This is an instant recipe of idli which means you do not need to soak it for the longer time. So let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Moong Dal Idli

  • Moong dal = 1 cup
  • Hung curd = 1/4 cup
  • Mustard seeds = 1/2 tsp
  • Chana dal (split chickpea) = 2 tsp
  • Green chilies = 2, finely chopped
  • Ginger = 1 inch piece, grated
  • Cashews = 7, chopped
  • Asafoetida = a pinch
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Fruit salt (eno) = 1/2 tsp

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly, wash moong dal well and then in a large bowl soak it in enough water for 2 hours.

Step 2

After 2 hours, drain off all the excess water and pour it to a blender jar, also add cashews in it. Blend it to make a smooth paste from it. Blend it without adding any water.

Step 3

Now transfer this dal to a mixing bowl and add curd in it. Whisk both the ingredients well. Keep aside.

Step 4

Take a griddle and heat it up. now add oil in it and eat it up.

Step 5

Further add chana dal, asafoetida, green chilies, mustard seeds and ginger. Let them splutter for few seconds and then turn the flame off.

Step 6

Now add this to the dal paste and mix well.

Step 7

Furthermore add salt and mix well.

Step 8

Take a steamer and prepare it for steaming idli.

Step 9

When steamer is ready, add fruit salt in it and mix well and then immediately pour this batter to the greased idli mould.

Step 10

Steam idli for about 15 minutes on a medium flame.

Finally, take them out from the steamer and serve them.

Your moong dal idli is now ready to serve. Serve them with sambhar and coconut chutney and enjoy.
