Veg Momos Recipe- Hey guys!! welcome back to the zayka recipe. Today I am going to share the most popular tibetan recipe of veg momos. I know that making momos at home takes a good amount of time. So when you have enough time at home then you can make them at home. They are also called as dim sum or dumplings. I am making these momos with the fine flour and stuffing vegetables in it. This is such a popular street food which now a days, sold everywhere. If you are concerned with your health then you can make them at home as I don’t usually add any msg in it. Ler’s know how to make it.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Veg Momos
- All purpose flour or maida = 1 cup
- Capsicum = 1, finely chopped
- Cabbage = 1 cup, grated
- Carrot = 1/2 cup, grated
- Onion = 1, finely chopped
- Black pepper powder = 1/4 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1/4 tsp
- Green chili = 1, finely chopped
- Ginger = 1 inch piece, grated
- Garlic = 7 to 8 cloves, finely chopped
- Vinegar = 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce = 1 tbsp
- Green coriander = 2 tbsp, finely chopped
- Salt = as per taste
- Oil = 2 tbsp
How to Make it
For kneading dough
Take a bow, now with the help of sieve, strain flour.
Gradually add water, and knead a soft dough from it. Keep this dough aside by covering it with cloth.
Take a wok or a pan, add oil in it and heat it up.
Add chopped garlic, ginger and onion in a pan and saute for 2 minutes.
Now add all chopped veggies like cabbage, carrot and capsicum. Saute them for few minutes. Do not overcook them.
In veggies, add salt, black pepper powder, red chili powder, soy sauce, vinegar and chopped coriander. Mix all the ingredients well.
Cook them for 2 to 3 minutes and then turn the flame off. Keep this stuffing aside and let it cool.
For the momos wrap, take a portion from the k kneaded dough and make a small ball from it.
Flatten the ball and roll each ball into a thin circle. The edges have to be thin and center have to be thick.
Now add stuffing in it as per your preferences in the center.
Apply water with your finger tip towards the corner of the circle and lift one side of the circle and start pleating. Join all the pleated in the center and your momo is ready to steam.
Make all the momos with the same procedure.
For steaming momos
If you have a steamer pan, then grease oil on a steamer pan and arrange momos in it by keeping space between them.
Steam veg momos for 5 to 8 minutes until the outer side becomes transparent. Don’t overcook them otherwise they will become chewy.
Do this same process with the other batch and steam them.
Now your veg momos are ready.
Serve them hot with red spicy chutney or green chutney.
