Necessary Ingredients Required For Urad Dal Bonda

  • Urad Dal = 1.5 cup
  • Green chilies = 3 finely chopped
  • Ginger = 2 inch piece, finely chopped or grated
  • Curry leaves = 6
  • Coriander = 2 tbsp, chopped
  • Red chili powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder = 1/4 tsp
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Coconut = 2 tbsp, grated
  • Oil = for frying

Instructions For Making It In Simple And Easy Steps

Step 1

Firstly, wash dal for 3 to 4 times and soak it in water for 2 hours.

Step 2

After 2 hours, drain the water from dal and transfer it to a blender or grinder.

Step 3

Blend it to make a thick paste or fluffy batter by adding 2 to 3 tbsp of water in it.

Step 4

Transfer this batter in a mixing bowl.

Step 5

Beat it for 2 to 3 minutes in one direction until it becomes more smooth and fluffy.

Step 6

Now add chopped green chilies, ginger, garlic, red chili powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves, coriander, salt and coconut.

Step 7

Beat the mixture again for 1 minute.

Step 8

Take a pan, pour oil in it and heat it up.

Step 9

Grease or dip your hand in water and take a small ball size portion from the batter and add it carefully in oil.

Step 10

Add 5 to 6 bonda in oil and fry them on a medium to low flame till they turn golden brown in color or crispier.

Step 11

Flip them occasionally to fry fro all the sides.

Step 12

Strain the excess oil and put them in a plate.

Step 13

Fry another batch of bonda with the similar method.

Your urad dal bonda are ready to serve. Serve them hot with coconut chutney or with sauces.
