- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Fresh coconut = 4 tbsp, grated

Instructions For Making It
Firstly wash and rinse chana dal well and then soak it in hot water for 1 hour.
Now take a pan, put it on a flame and heat it up. After heating of pan on amedium to low flame, add urad dal in it and roast it for 2 minutes or till it turns slightly brown in color. After roasting, remove it from the pan and keep it aside.
In same pan, add rice flour and roast it on a medium to low flame till it becomes warm. Also remove it from the pan and keep it aside.
After cooling, take a grinder jar, add urad dal, roasted chana dal and grind them well to make a fine powder from it.
In a mixing bowl, add rice flour and prepared dal powder. Mix well.
Then add chopped onions, chopped curry leaves, asafoetida, red chili powder and salt. Mix well.
Then add a dash of water in the mixture and mix well. Add ghee in it and mix with your finger tips.
Drain all the water from the soaked chana dal and then add it to the flour mixture. Gradually add water in it with tbsp and knead a dough from it. Dough must not be soft nor hard. Add water in parts.
For shaping it, take a plastic bag or butter paper, if you are using plastic bag then grease it with oil.
Now take a portion from the dough and make a small ball from it.
Place ball on the greased bag and then flatten it by your finger tips to a thin circular shape. Don’t make it too thin or flat. Make shapes with the similar process.
In a pan, add oil and heat it up, after heating of oil add the prepared round shapes and fry them on a medium to high flame.
When it turns golden from one side then flip it and fry it from the other side as well. Shake off the excess oil and then fry the remaining thattai as well.
Finally, your thattai are now ready to serve. You can also consume them for about a month and enjoy.
