As we all know that in India chutney is one of the most essential and tasty side dip. There are thousand of varieties of chutney in India. We enjoyed chutney with almost everything from biyani to khichdi and from paratha to dosa, Indian wants chutney with almost everything. So in today;s kitchen I am going to share with you a very tasty and different recipe of chutney which is made by grinding up some tomatoes with some basic spices and then fried in some little oil. This tamatar chutney is very different and spicy as well. You can serve it with anything like biryani, parathas, khichdi and with anything which you wants to eat with chutney. You can also store it in a air tight container in refrigerator for about 2 weeks. So lets start the recipe of our spicy and tangy tamatar chutney.
Necessary Ingredients We Required
- Tomatoes = 500 gm, chopped
- Garlic = 3 cloves, chopped
- Curry leaves = few
- Hing = a pinch
- Oil = 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds = 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds = 1/4 tsp
- Ginger = half inch, chopped
- Turmeric powder = 1/4 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Salt = to taste
Methods Of Making Tamatar Chutney
In a pan and heat 2 tbsp of oil, when oil gets heated add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds in it.
Add a pinch of hing or asefoetida and saute it.
Now add few curry leaves and saute it for a while.
Now add garlic and ginger. Saute it well till it turns golden brown.
Next add turmeric and red chili powder, saute it well. Note that the spices do not burn.
Now add tomatoes and sprinkle salt in it. Saute it till it get mushy.
Close the lid and cook it for about 10 minutes.
Check it and stir it occasionally and again cover the lid and cook for about 10 minutes.
Cook it until the chutney get thicken and mash it in between.
Your Tamatar Chutney is now done. Enjoy it with your favorite food.
