Sweet Chirote Recipe | How To Make Khaja Recipe

Sweet Chirote Recipe Hello foodies!! Today I am sharing the recipe of sweet chiroti which is a delicacy predominantly served in Karnataka and Maharashtra. Basically the are made of all purpose flour i.e. maida, but I am making it with semolina (suji) as the crispiness of semolina is really good. Let’s know how to make it at home.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Sweet Chirote Recipe

  • Semolina (suji/rava) = 2 cups
  • Sugar = 2 cups
  • Lukewarm milk = 1 glass
  • Melted ghee = 5 tbsp
  • Green cardamom powder = 1/2 tsp
  • All purpose flour = 2 tbsp
  • Oil = for frying

How To Make Khaja In Simple Steps

Step 1

For making these chirote, you can take any kind of semolina, whether it is fine or thick. Take a grinder jar, add semolina in it and grind it finely.

Step 2

Take a mixing bowl, pour grind suji into the mixing bowl and add cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 3

Then add 3 tbsp of ghee in it and mix well with semolina.

Step 4

Now gradually add lukewarm milk in it so that semolina easily absorbs milk.

Step 5

Knead a smooth dough from the mixture and keep it aside by covering it. Let it rest for half an hour.

Step 6

For making sata, take a small bowl, add 2 tbsp of all purpose flour and 2 tbsp of ghee. Mix both things well.

Step 7

Make sure that it becomes lumps free and smooth.

Step 8

After 30 minutes, dough will be ready for making chirota. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions.

Step 9

Make a ball from it and then flatten it into square shape by using rolling pin. Gently roll it.

Step 10

Now paste the prepared sata on the three corners of the rolled dough. On the 1 corner, I am using water to close it.

Step 11

Spread sata on the whole flatten square.

Step 12

Now cover it and fold it by over lapsing it with each corner. Now roll it again to make it thin and long.

Cut them into long size or as per your required size.

Step 14

Make chirote from the other part of the dough with the similar process.

Step 15

For making sugar syrup, take a pan, add water and sugar in it and cook it till sugar completely melts in it. I am adding 1 and 1/4 cup of water in 2 cups of sugar for making sugar syrup.

Step 16

After melting of sugar, cook it for more 5 to 7 minutes. Make one string syrup from it and then turn the flame off.

Step 17

In a wok, add oil and heat it up. Then add the prepared chirote for frying. Fry them till they turn golden in color and flip them in between to fry them well.

Step 18

Now add the fried chirote into the prepared sugar syrup and soak them in it for 20 to 25 minutes. Stir them in between.

Step 19

Now take them out from the sugar syrup and serve them.

Your delicious sweet chirote are now ready to serve. serve them after meal and enjoy.
