Rava Pongal Recipe Hey guys!! I am back with the new south-Indian cuisine. This rava pongal is super delicious n taste and can be cooked in a really easy way. You can make it for the breakfast, for lunch or for dinner too. This is a healthy recipe, so for those who are on their diet, this recipe will work wonder for you guys. Let’s know how to make it.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Rava Pongal Recipe
- Yellow Moong dal = 1/2 cup
- Semolina (rava/suji) = 1 cup
- Cashews = 8
- Curry leaves = 10
- Black peppercorns = 6
- Cumin seeds = 1/2 tsp
- Ginger = 1 inch piece
- Green chilies = 2
- Salt = as per taste
- Ghee = 4 tsp
Instructions For Making It
Firstly, take a pressure cooker, add moong dal in it and add 2 cups of water in it and cover the lid. Put it on a flame and cook till 2 whistles.
After 2 whistles, turn the flame off.
Take a pan, add 1 tsp of oil in it and then add semolina. Roast it well on a medium flame or till it turn light brown in color.
Once it is roasted well, turn the flame off and keep it aside for cooling.
Take another pan, add a tbsp of ghee in it and heat it up. After heating of ghee, add cumin seeds and black peppercorns. Stir fry them for 30 to 40 seconds and then turn the flame off, keep aside for cooling.
After cooling, make a powder from them.
In a fry pan, add one cup of water and bring it to a boil. After boiling, add the cooked dal and roasted semolina in it.
After 2 minutes, add salt as per your taste in it and then add black pepper powder and cumin powder in it and cook it for 7 to 8 minutes.
For tempering, take a tadka pan, add oil in it and heat it up. Then add cashews, curry leaves, ginger and green chilies in it. Let them splutter for few seconds.
Add this prepared tempering to the cooked dal and rava.
Finally, your delicious rava pongal is ready to serve. Serve it on a plate and enjoy.
