Rava Coconut Upma Recipe Today I am going to share a delicious south-Indian cuisine which is rava coconut upma. This is really delicious in taste and healthy too. Also this does nit require much time and ingredients to make this simple yet healthy dish. You can also serve this upma in breakfast as it will keep you full for a longer time. So let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Rava Coconut Upma

  • Semolina/rava/suji = 1 cup
  • Onion = 1
  • Coconut = 2 tbsp, finely chopped or grated
  • Green chilies = 2 to 3, finely chopped
  • Ginger = 1 small piece
  • Water = as required
  • Ghee = 2 tsp
  • Oil = 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds = 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal = 1 tsp
  • Chana dal = 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilies = 2
  • Cashews = 10
  • Curry leaves = 5 to 6

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly add ghee in a pan and heat it up. Then add semolina in it and roast it well till it turns aromatic.

Step 2

After roasting semolina, keep it aside.

Step 3

Finely chop the other ingredients like onion, green chilies, ginger and keep them aside. In a separate small bowl, add grated coconut and add little water in it and mix it well.

Step 4

In a pan, add oil and heat it up. Then add mustard seeds, chana dal and urad dal. Fry them for about a minute or till dal turns into golden in color.

Step 5

Further add cashews, dry red chilies, curry leaves and saute them well.

Step 6

Now add chopped onion, ginger and green chilies and cook them till onion turns soft.

Step 7

Later add coconut and water mixture in it and mix well.

Step 8

Then add some salt and water in it and bring it to a boil. Once it takes a boil, add rava in it and mix it well. Continue to stir it till rava absorbs all water and cooked well.

Finally, your delicious rava coconut upma is now ready to serve. Serve it hot by pouring some ghee on it. Enjoy.
