Necessary Ingredients Required For Paneer Butter Masala

  • Cottage Cheese or paneer = 500 gm
  • Onion = 2, chopped
  • Tomato = 5, chopped
  • Cashew nuts = 1/2 cup
  • Kashmiri dry red chilies = 13 to 15
  • Kashmiri red chili powder = 4 tsp
  • Green cardamom pods = 4 to 5
  • Bay leaf = 2
  • Cloves = 3 to 4
  • Cinnamon stick = 1 inch piece
  • Garam masala powder = 2 tsp
  • Fresh cream = 4 tbsp
  • Sugar = 2 tsp
  • Khoa (unsweetened) = 1/2 cup
  • Milk = 1/2 cup
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Oil = 2 tbsp
  • Butter 2 tbsp
  • Kasuri methi = 1/2 tsp
  • Water = as required

Instructions For Making It Step By Step

Step 1

Take a wok or a pan, add oil in it and heat it up.

Step 2

After heating of oil, add chopped onions in it and saute till they turns soft and pinkish in color.

Step 3

Now add dry red chilies tomatoes and cashews in it and saute till they are completely cooked.

Step 4

Then add salt in it and mix it well.

Step 5

Further add 2 to 3 cups of water in it and let it boil. Ones it takes boil, cover the lid and simmer the flame. Let it cook for 8 to 10 minutes.

Step 6

After cooling it, transfer it to a blending jar and blend it to make a smooth paste. Sieve the puree to make the gravy more smoother.

Step 7

Take a wok, add butter in it and after melting of butter, add all the whole spices in it. Let them splutter for few seconds.

Step 8

Further add ginger and garlic paste in it and saute till the raw smell disappears.

Step 9

Now add the Sieved blended puree in it and also add red chili powder. Mix well.

Step 10

Add water as per your required consistency. Cove the lid and let it cook till the gravy thickens.

Step 11

Ones the gravy thickens, add chopped cottage cheese in it and give it a nice stir. Also add some dry feugreek leaves and cook it for 2 more minutes.

Step 12

Finally turn the flame off and add fresh cream in it.

Serve it hot with butter naan, paratha or rice or chapati.
