Nawabi Paneer Recipe / Royal paneer with white gravy

Nawabi paneer is a lip smacking dish which is rich in its creamy taste. The flavor of cashews and almonds makes it more tastier than any other paneer recipe. Today I wanna share my favorite nawabi paneer recipe because I think that nothing can beat the taste of this paneer recipe. you can easily make it at home at any special occasion or any other guest appearance. So without wasting any time let’s get started.

 Required ingredients for Nawabi paneer-

  • Cottage cheese or paneer = 400 gm
  • Cashews = 15, soaked
  • Almonds = 15, soaked and peel off
  • Poppy seeds or khas khas = 1 tbsp
  • Curd or yogurt = 1/2 cup, beat
  • Milk = 1 cup
  • Black pepper powder = 1 tsp
  • Green chili = 5, slit
  • Pure ghee = 3 tbsp
  • Onion = 2, medium size, puree
  • Ginger and garlic paste = 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
  • Green cardamom = 4
  • Cloves = 5
  • Cinnamon stick = 1 stick
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Saffron = 10 to 12 threads (soaked in milk)
  • Dry fenugreek leaves or kasuri methi = 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf = 2
  • Rose essence = 1 tsp (optional)

Method of making-

Step 1

Take a blender jar, add soaked cashews, almonds and poppy seeds. Blend it to make a fine paste.

Step 2

Take a pan, pour ghee and heat it up. Now add cumin seeds, bay leaf, green cardamom, cinnamon stick and clove. Let it stir fry for 1 minute.

Step 3

After crackling of cumin, add green chilies and then add onion paste in it. Cook it for 4 to 5 minutes.

Step 4

Now add ginger and garlic paste and saute it.

Step 5

After 2 minutes, add cashew and almonds paste in a pan and mix it well.

Step 6

After 5 minutes, add curd and continuously mixing it.

Step 7

Mix it for 3 to 4 minutes and then add black pepper powder and salt in a gravy. Mix all the things well.

Step 8

Now add milk in it and continuously stirring it for 2 to 3 minutes. After milk takes a boil, then add rose essence in a gravy and mix it well.

Step 9

Add paneer cubes in a gravy and give it a stir for 2 minutes and then cover it with a lid and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 10

Now add saffron and dry fenugreek leaves in a gravy and mix it. Turn the flame off.

Creamy and delicious nawabi paneer is ready to serve.

Serve it with butter naan or chapati.
