Moong dal palak is a delicious punjabi recipe which is really good in taste and is also a healthy food. This moong dal palak requires very minimum ingredients. Still it tastes very delicious. If your kids are avoiding eating spinach then you can give them spinach in this way. They surely eat it. This is one of a good way to include leafy vegetable in a diet. Let’s know it’s simple recipe.
Required Ingredients For Moong Dal Palak
- Yellow Moong dal (split and skinless) = 200 gm
- Spinach = 1 cup, finely chopped
- Water = 1 cup
- Tomato = 1, finely chopped (optional)
- Turmeric powder = 1/2 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
- Coriander powder = 1/2 tsp
- Ginger and garlic paste = 2 tsp
- Asafoetida or hing = a pinch
- Salt = as per taste
- Garlic = 1 tsp, finely chopped
- Dry red chilies = 2
- pure ghee = 2 tbsp
How To Make It In Easy Steps
Take a bowl or sieve, pour dal in it and wash it until water seems to be clean.
Now put the washed dal into a pressure cooker and add salt, chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder in it and add water. Now cover the lid and bring it to a boil and cooked it.
Keep this boiled dal aside.
In a pan, add water and boil spinach in it until half done. Wash the boiled spinach with cold water and keep it aside.
Now take a pan, pour ghee in it and heat it up. After heating up of ghee, add asafoetida, cumin seeds and let them crackle for few seconds and then add ginger and garlic paste in it.
Stir it and then add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt in it. Mix it and then add cooked dal and spinach in it.
Mix it well and add water if required.
Now in a tadka pan, add some ghee in it and add chopped garlic and dry red chilies in it.
Give tempering to dal palak.
Now your moong dal palak is ready.
Serve it hot with naan, paratha or rice.
