Masala Makhana Recipe | Spicy Roasted Masala Makhana

Masala Makhana Recipe Here I am sharing a delicious tea time snack recipe which is crispy, crunchy and spicy. When I need something spicy and crunchy to eat, then i make this snack and it is ready to eat within just 10 minutes. Nothing is more good than a quick, spicy and delicious snack which is ready to eat within no time. The best thing about this snack is that it does not require much spices or ingredients. They are also known as lotus seeds or fox nuts or makhana. These are a really good source of protein, calcium and iron as well.

Ghee is the key or main ingredient for this recipe, as when they are roasted in ghee, the crunchiness of these nuts is at another level. So make sure you are using ghee while roasting them. So let’s know how to make them.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Masala Makhana

  • Fox nuts (makhana) =  cups
  • Turmeric powder = 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat masala powder = 1 tsp
  • Black salt = as per taste
  • Clarified butter/ghee = 3 tbsp

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly, in a wok, add ghee and heat it up.

Step 2

Now add fox nuts in it and roast them continuously by stirring it till they turn golden in color. Make sure you stir them continuously otherwise they will burn.

Step 3

Turn the flame on low and add red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and make sure spices does not get burn.

Step 4

After mixing spices in it. Turn the flame off and add chaat masala powder in it.

Step 5

Mix it so that due to heat, spices does not burn, mix all spices well and evenly.

Finally, your delicious masala makhana are now ready. Serve them with tea or you can also store them in an airtight container for 3 to 4 weeks and enjoy whenever you want to.
