Lauki Bharta Recipe Welcome back to the zayka recipe’s kitchen. Today I am going to share a delicious recipe of bottle gourd which is known as lauki or ghiya. This is one of the healthy vegetable and tastes yummy when making in a right way. I have already shared a lot of recipes of bottle which are also delicious and yummy and today I am sharing bharta of it. This lauki bharta is easy to make and once you make it for lunch or dinner you will loved it. So let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Lauki Bharti Recipe

  • Bottle gourd = 1, grated or 1/2 kg
  • Red chili powder = 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Onion = 2, chopped in slices
  • Ginger garlic paste = 2 tsp
  • Tomato = 2, finely chopped
  • Garam masala powder = 1 tsp
  • Green chili = 1, finely chopped
  • Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida = a pinch
  • Dry red chili = 1
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Oil = 2 tbsp

For Garnishing

Coriander = finely chopped

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly in a pan, ad oil and heat it up. Then add cumin seeds, dry red chili, asafoetida in it and let them splutter for a while.

Step 2

Once they splutter, add ginger garlic paste and chopped onion in it. Saute them for a while or till onion turns translucent.

Step 3

Now add chopped tomatoes in it and cook till tomato turns mushy and oozes oil.

Step 4

Later add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.

Step 5

Further take a bottle gourd, remove its peel and then grate it well. After grating it, add it to the mixed spices and mix it well with the other ingredients.

Step 6

You do not have to add water in it as bottle gourd release water from itself which helps in cooking.

Step 7

Cover it and cook it on a medium flame for about 10 to 12 minutes.

Step 8

After the mentioned time, open it and give it a nice mix, if water is present in it, then remove the lid and cook it on a high flame by continually stirring it.

Step 9

Add chopped coriander, garam masala powder, give it a mix and turn the flame off.

Finally, your delicious lauki bharta is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with chapati or paratha or puri and enjoy.
