Kathal Curry Recipe Hello everyone!! Today I am going to share a delicious curry recipe of kathal which is absolutely lip smacking and easy to make. You guys must try this recipe as it does not take much efforts in making and the ingredients are also easily available to you guys. So let’s know how to make it.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Kathal Curry Recipe
- Jackfruit (kathal) = 500 gm
- Cashews = 10 to 12
- Green chili = 2 to 3
- Ginger = 1 inch piece
- Tomato = 300 gm
- Asafoetida = a pinch
- Cumin seeds = 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder = 1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder = 1 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Salt = as per taste
- Garam masala powder = 1/4 tsp
- Green coriander = 1 tbsp
- Oil = 2 to 3 tbsp
Instructions For Making It
Chop jackfruit in 2 to 3 inches pieces. Take a pressure cooker and add 1/2 cup of water with jackfruit and some salt, cook them till it takes a whistle and then immediately turn off the flame and release the pressure.
Keep this boiled kathal aside.
Scratch ginger and add it to a blender jar along with green chilies, tomatoes, garlic cloves and blend them into a smooth and fine paste.
Soak cashews for about 15 minutes in a lukewarm water.
Now make paste of cashews as well and keep it aside.
In a pan or a wok, add oil and heat it up. Then add cumin seeds, asafoetida in it and let them splutter for a while. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and cook them by continuously stirring for 12 seconds.
Later add prepared tomato paste in it and cook till oil oozes from the mixture.
Once oil separates from the mixture, add cashews paste in it and give it a nice mix.
Add boiled pieces of jackfruit and mix it. Cover the lid and cook for about 2 minutes on a low flame. Finally add some garam masala powder and chopped coriander.
Here Your delicious kathal curry is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with paratha or chapati and enjoy.
