Karachi Halwa Recipe This halwa recipe is very popular in south Asia countries. This mouth melting halwa is also known as bombay karachi halwa which is quite popular at all the places in India as well. Basically this halwa is made with corn flour, which is also known as corn starch, sugar and ghee. The process of making this halwa is easy but a little time consuming but when you taste it after making it, you will just go awww. Let’s know how to make this delicious halwa.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Karachi Halwa
- Corn flour = 1.5 cup
- Sugar = 3 cups or as per taste
- Ghee = 1 cup
- Orange food color = few drops
- Rose water = 1 tsp
- Pistachios = 1 tbsp, finely chopped
- Almonds = 1 tbsp, chopped
- Melon seeds = 2 tbsp
- Lemon juice = 1 tbsp
- Water = 2 cups
Instructions For Making It
In a mixing bowl, add cornflour. Gradually add water in it and make a lumps free solution from it.
Sieve this paste one time to remove all the impurities.
In a pan, ass sugar and 1 cup of water, put it on a flame and let the sugar completely melts in it.
Ones the sugar completely dissolves in water, add lemon juice in it, this step helps to prevent crystallization in sugar.
Now turn the flame off and gradually add the prepared corn flour solution in sugar syrup.
Put it on a flame after mixing it well and continue to stir it on a medium flame.
Gradually add ghee in it and mix well, make sure you have added ghee in parts. Ones ghee melts at a time then add second time and so on.
After 3 to 4 minutes, the mixture becomes thick, then add food color in it and continue to mix it till the mixture becomes more thick.
While mixing it, you will observe that the mixture turns transparent, simmer the flame and cook it for more time. Also add rose water and melon seeds in it and cook it till the mixture becomes halwa like consistency.
In a tray or a mould, grease it with ghee, and transfer the prepared mixture into it.
Garnish it with chopped dry fruits and keep it aside for cooling for 4 to 5 hours at room temperature.
Finally your karachi halwa is now ready to serve. Serve it after meal as a dessert and enjoy.
