Necessary Ingredients Required For kalonji Aloo Recipe
- Potato = 500 gm, chopped in long and thick
- Nigella seeds or kalonji = 1 tsp
- Tomato = 2, medium size, pureed
- Ginger and garlic paste = 2 tsp
- Salt = as per taste
- Crushed red chilies or chili flakes = 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder = 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
- Kashmiri red chili powder = 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder = 1 tsp
- Oil = 1/2 cup
- Green chilies = 4
- Green coriander = 2 tbsp, finely chopped
How To Make Potato With Kalonji
Take a pan, pour oil in it and heat it up.
After heating up of oil, add cumin seeds and let the seeds splutter for few seconds. Then add ginger and garlic paste and all dry spices like, salt, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and kashmiri red chili powder.
Saute all the spices for 1 minute.
Now add pureed tomato and cook it until oil separates from tomatoes.
When oil separates, add chopped potatoes and cook them with mixture for 2 to 4 minutes.
Now add 1 glass of water and mix it well.
Cover the lid and cook potatoes until potatoes gets soft. Put it on a medium flame so that potatoes get cooked well.
After 10 to 12 minutes, open the lid and check potatoes gets tendered well.
You can check the consistency of gravy as you like. Now add kalonji and whole green chilies. Mix it well.
Cover the lid and let it cook for 3 more minutes.
Now your kalonji aloo is ready to serve. Serve it hot with roti, paratha or puri.
