Jeera Dal Tadka Recipe This is one of the most delicious, healthy and easy dal recipe which can be easily made at home. One should always eat something healthy which gives energy as well as proteins as well. Moong jeera dal tadka is one of my favorite dal recipe as I like to eat this in my lunch with some fresh curd and salad. If you are on diet then this dal goes perfect with your diet.

Cumin seeds which is also known as jeera in hindi is one those ingredient which helps in digestion so in Indian households, this is used in mostly foods as well. So today I am sharing dal tadka recipe in which I am gonna add cumin seeds. Let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Jeera Dal Tadka

  • Moong dal = 1 cup
  • Asafoetida (hing) = a pinch
  • Turmeric powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
  • Garlic = 4 cloves, finely chopped
  • Dry red chili = 2, broken
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Oil = 1 tbsp
  • Ghee = 1 tbsp

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

For making this dal, clean and wash dal well and then transfer it to a pressure cooker.

Step 2

Further add 2 cups of water, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder and oil.

Step 3

Cover the lid and pressure cook it on a medium flame and after a whistle, turn the flame off.

Step 4

Do not open the lid of the pressure cooker, let the pressure release by itself.

Step 5

Once the pressure release, open the lid and check your dal, if you like mushy dal, then mash it by using a ladle.

Step 6

In a tadka pan, add ghee and heat it up.

Step 7

Then add broken red chilies, cumin seeds and garlic. Let them splutter for a while and then add asafoetida make sure they should not burn.

Step 8

Turn the flame off and pour this tempering to the cooked dal.

Finally, your delicious jeera dal tadka is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with chapati or rice and enjoy.
