Ghee Roast Dosa Recipe This is a classic south Indian breakfast recipe which is a paper thin savoury crepe and known as ghee roast dosa. This dosa takes time in fermenting as the batter needs time in fermentation because of its key ingredients. But its final result is amazing. The crispiness of this dosa makes it more delicious than the regular one. Let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Ghee Roast Dosa

  • Dosa rice = 2 cups
  • Urad dal = 1/2 cup
  • Puffed rice (murmre) = 1 cup
  • Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) = 1/4 tsp
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Ghee = for roasting

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly, wash puffed rice well and then squeeze them well to drain its excess water.

Step 2

Wash and rinse dosa rice well and then transfer it to a bowl. Further add water in it to soak them and also add fenugreek seeds in it. Soak them for 5 hours.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, add washed urad dal in it and soak it in enough water for 3 hours.

Step 5

After 3 hours, drain off all the water from the urad dal and transfer it to a blender jar. Blend it to make a smooth paste of it and add water as required.

Step 6

Transfer the blended dal into a large size mixing bowl.

Step 7

In a similar blender jar, add soaked rice by draining off all the water and blend it coarsely. Add water if necessary.

Step 8

Further, transfer this batter to the urad dal bowl.

Step 9

Now blend the puffed rice and transfer it also to the mixing bowl.

Step 10

Furthermore, mix all the ingredients and keep aside by covering it at a warm place for 10 hours.

Step 11

After 10 hours, add salt in it and you will see that it gets fermented and doubles than its actual form.

Step 12

Heat a griddle, pour a ladleful of batter on the griddle and spread it to a circular motion. Make sure it is thin as regular dosa.

Step 13

Furthermore, add ghee over dosa and spread it. Cover it and roast it till it turns golden in color. Fold and serve.

Finally, your delicious and crispy ghee roast dosa is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with sambhar or chutney and enjoy.
