Dal Tadka Recipe Today I am going to make dal tadka in restaurant style. Dal is the most common and loved food in every house of India and it can be made in several ways. But today I am making it in just exactly the restaurant style. The taste of this dal is just lip smacking and the process of making is also quick and easy. This dal goes very well with jeera rice. So let’s know how to make it.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Dal Tadka Recipe
- Arhar Dal (Toor Dal) = 1.5 cups or 300 gm
- Turmeric powder = 1 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Asafoetida or hing = 1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder = 1 tsp
- Salt = as per taste
- Garam masala powder = 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds = 1/2 tsp
- Onion = 1, chopped
- Garlic = 4 to 5 cloves, chopped
- Green chilies = 3, finely chopped
- Ginger = 1 inch piece, chopped
- Tomato – 2, finely chopped
- Green coriander = 1 tbsp, chopped
- Oil = 4 tbsp
- Ghee = 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds = 1/2 tsp
- Hing = a pinch
- Dry red chilies = 2
- Red chili powder = 1/2 tsp
Process For Boiling Dal
Wash dal well and then transfer it in a bowl and soak it in water for about 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, add this soaked dal in a pressure cooker, along with it add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder. Give it a stir and cover the lid.
Allow 3 to 4 whistles in dal and then rest it aside for cooling.
Process Of Making Dal
Take a pan or a wok, add oil in it and heat it up.
After heating of oil, add cumin seeds and asafoetida in it. Let the cumin seeds splutter for few seconds.
Then add chopped onion in it and saute till the onions turn pinkish in color or they turn soft.
Add chopped ginger and garlic in it. Saute for 2 minutes and then add chopped green chilies.
Further add chopped tomatoes in it and add some salt to soften the tomatoes faster.
Ones tomatoes tuns soft, add red chili powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Mix all the things well.
Also add chopped coriander in it and give it a nice stir.
Now add boiled dal in it. Mix it well with spices and add water as per your required consistency. Allow it to cook for 4 to 5 minutes and then simmer the flame.
Let’s make tempering. For tempering, take a tadka pan, add oil in it and heat it up.
After heating of oil, add dry red chilies, cumin seeds, asafoetida and red chili powder. Let them cook for 2 minutes and then give tempering to the prepared dal.
Turn the flame off of dal and then serve it in a serving bowl.
Your tadka dal is all done for serving. Serve it hot by garnishing it with some chopped coriander leave and serve it with jeera rice or paratha or chapati.
