Dal Ke Kebab Recipe These kebab are really delicious as they have stuffing of curd inside and the crispy outer layer makes these kebabs more delicious. I am using chana dal, moong dal and urad dal which are easily available at local shops as well as super markets too. You can also serve them as a starter for parties and can serve as a snack too. Let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Dal Ke Kebab

  • Turmeric powder = 1 tsp
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Moong dal = 1 cup, soaked
  • Urad dal = 1 cup, soaked
  • Split gram dal (chana dal) = 2 cups, soaked
  • Ghee = 4 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds = 2 tsp
  • Green chili = 3, finely chopped
  • Ginger = 2 inch piece, finely chopped
  • Turmeric powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel seeds = 1 tsp
  • Dry mango powder = 1 tsp
  • Potato = 2 boiled and mashed
  • Bread crumbs = 3 tbsp
  • Oil = for frying


  • Hung Curd = 1 cup
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Green chilies = 2, finely chopped
  • Onion = 2 small size, finely chopped
  • Mint leaves = few

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly in a pan, add 5 cups of water and add salt, turmeric powder and then add chana dal in it. Let the split gram boil for 5 to 8 minutes and then add washed moong dal and urad dal along with chana dal.

Step 2

Let all lentils cooked until they perfectly cooked and mashed easily. After cooking them drain off all the water from it and keep it aside for cooling.

Step 3

In a pan, add oil and heat it up. Then add cumin seeds and let them splutter for a while.

Step 4

Further add asafoetida, chopped green chilies, chopped ginger and saute for a minute. Then add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and mix well.

Step 5

Add the cooked dal in the pan and mix well with all the spices. Also add salt and fennel seeds and cook till moisture gets dry and mash it also with masher or spatula.

Step 6

For stuffing

in a bowl add curd, salt, green chili, onion and mint leaves. Mix it and your stuffing is now ready.

Step 7

In cooked dal, add boiled and mashed potato and also add dry mango powder in it. Mix both things well with dal.

Step 8

Now take a small portion from the dal mixture and put stuffing in between and then close it by rolling and make a ball from it. Slightly press it to flatten it. Make all the kebabs with the similar process.

Step 9

Pour some oil in a griddle and fry these stuffed kebab until golden on a medium flame. Fry them from both sides and then transfer to the serving plate. Make and fry all the kebab with the similar process.

Your delicious dal ke kebab are now ready to serve. Serve them hot with dip or chutney.
