Cholar Dal Recipe Hey guys!!! Welcome back to the zayka recipe’s kitchen. Today I am going to share a delicious traditional and famous recipe of bengal. This bengali recipe of cholar dal is quite delicious and different from the other dal recipes. The taste is also unique and the process is easy as well. Necessary Ingredients Required For Cholar Dal Recipe
- Split chickpea (chana dal) = 1 cup
- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Ginger = 1 tsp, grated
- Turmeric powder = a pinch
- Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
- Cinnamon stick = a piece
- Dry red chili = 1
- Cloves = 2
- Green cardamom = 2
- Bay leaf = 1
- Green chili = 2, slit
- Sugar = 1 tsp
- Salt = as per taste
- Coconut = 1/2 small, chopped
- Ghee = 1 tbsp
- Water = as required
Instructions For Making It
Clean and wash chana dal well and then add it to the pressure with a cup of water, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and bring it to a boil.
After a boil, cover the lid and let it cook till 3 to 4 whistles and then turn the flame off.
In a wok, add ghee and heat it up. Then add dry red chili, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, green cardamom, bay leaf and chopped coconut and let them saute for about 30 seconds.
Later add grated ginger and saute till raw smell disappears. Once ginger turns light golden, add boiled chana dal in it and mix it well with the tempering.
Now add green chili, salt and sugar and mix all the ingredients well.
Cook it for about 2 to 4 minutes and then turn the flame off.
Finally your delicious cholar dal is now ready to serve. Transfer it to a serving bowl and serve it hot with chapati or paratha and enjoy.
