Chana Dal Vada Masala vada or chana dal vada is a famous South-Indian recipe, the taste of this snack is just amazing and crave you for it. This is prepared by using soaked and blend chana dal and by adding onion and spices and then fry them. They are crispy, flavorful and spicy snack which you can easily make at home at your tea time or for parties also. Let’s know how to make it.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Chana Dal Vada
- Chickpea lentils or chana dal = 1 cup, soaked for 2 hours
- Onion = 1, finely chopped
- Green coriander = 3 tbsp, finely chopped
- Ginger, garlic and green chili paste = 2 tsp
- Curry leaves = 5, finely chopped
- Rice flour = 2 tbsp
- Chili flakes = 1/2 tsp
- Black pepper powder = 1/2 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida or hing = 1/4 tsp
- Salt = as per taste
- Oil = for frying
Instructions For Making In Simple Steps
Wash lentils well and let it soak for 2 hours in water.
After 2 hours, drain the water from lentil and take a blender jar, add lentil in it and blend it. Don’t make powder or paste from it. Blend it coarsely.
Take a mixing bowl, add lentil in it and then add ginger, garlic and green chili paste, onion, coriander, curry leaves, crushed pepper, chili flake, red chili powder, rice flour, salt and asafoetida.
Mix all the things well, now beat the mixture for 7 to 8 minutes so that vade will make good.
Take a pan, pour oil in it and heat it up.
After heating up of oil, grease your hands with water, take a small ball size portion from the mixture, round it between your palms and flatten it by slightly pressing it.
Add this into hot oil and make vada like this and add into the oil for frying.
Be careful while adding them in oil, fry them till they turn in golden brown color and flip them occasionally to avoid burning.
Ones they fried well from both the sides, then drain the excess oil and put them in a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Fry the other batch with the same process.
Your chana dal vada are ready to serve. Serve them hot with sauce or green chutney.
