Chana Dal Pulao | Chana Dal Khichdi Recipe

Necessary Ingredients Required For Chana Dal Pulao

  • Basmati rice = 500 gm, soaked for 1 hour
  • Gram pulse or chana dal = 250 gm, soaked for one hour
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
  • Pepper corn = 5 to 6
  • Bay leaf = 2
  • Cloves = 2
  • Black cardamom = 1
  • Green cardamom = 2
  • Oil = 2 tbsp
  • Green chili = 2 to 3, slit
  • Ginger and garlic paste = 1 tbsp
  • Onion = 1, medium size, sliced

Procedure To Make In Easy Steps

Step 1

Take a pressure cooker, pour oil in it and heat it up.

Step 2

Now add cumin seeds, pepper corn, bay leaf, cloves, black cardamom and green cardamom. Let the spices crackle for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Now add ginger garlic paste and saute it for few seconds and then add chopped onion in it and fry it until it turns golden brown in color.

Step 4

Add slit chilies and soaked chana dal in cooker and add 1 cup of water in it. Cover the lid and cook dal until half done.

Step 5

Now turn the flame off, open the lid and then add soaked rice in it.

Step 6

Add 1 more cup of water and add salt in it. Give a boil in it and then cover the lid.

Step 7

Cook it for 8 to 10 minutes on a high flame and then turn the flame low and let it cook for 5 minutes.

Now your chana dal pulao is ready.

Serve it hot with red chutney and raita.
