Black Gram Gravy Recipe Welcome back to the zayka recipes kitchen. Today I am sharing a delicious recipe of black gram (kala chana) recipe with gravy. This is a Rajasthani recipe which is popular there. This dish of chana also goes well with rice and you can also have it with puri as well. Easy to make and delicious in taste, so let’s know how to make it.
Necessary Ingredients Required For Black Gram Gravy
- Black gram = 1 cup
- Baking Soda = a pinch
- Gram flour = 4 tsp
- Onion = 1, finely chopped
- Curd = 1 and half cup
- Coriander powder = 2 tsp
- Red chili powder = 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder = 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder = 1 tsp
- Cinnamon stick = 2 inch piece
- Cloves = 6 to 7
- Black cardamom = 2
- Asafoetida = 2 pinch
- Oil = 2 tbsp
- Ghee = 2 tbsp
- Chaat masala powder = 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
- Salt = as per taste
- Green coriander = 2 tbsp, finely chopped
- Green chili = 4 slit
Instructions For Making It
Firstly clean and wash black grams well. Now add water and baking soda in it and soak them for the whole night.
On the next morning, drain off all the water and then put it to a pressure cooker, add 2 cups of water in it and let it cook until 2 whistles and then turn the flame low. Now cook it for more 20 minutes on simmer.
After boiling them, slightly mash some of chickpeas and do not drain its water.
In a separate pan, add oil and ghee, heat it up. Then add cumin seeds in it and let them splutter for a while. Also add black cardamom, asafoetida, cloves, cinnamon stick. Saute these spices for a while and then add chopped onion in it. Saute till onion turns pinkish in color.
In a separate bowl add curd and roasted gram flour and mix them well. Later add all the powdered spices like red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chaat masala powder and mix all the spices well with curd mixture.
In saute onion, add green chilies and give it a nice mix. Then add curd and gram flour mixture. Mix all the ingredients well till oil separates from the mixture.
Now add boiled chana and salt in it and mix it well with the other spices. Cook for 10 minutes on a low flame and then add garam masala powder, and chopped coriander in it. Give it a nice stir.
Finally, your delicious black gram gravy is now ready. Serve it hot with jeera rice or chapati and enjoy.
