Besani Masala Bhindi Recipe Here I am back with the new delicious recipe of ladyfinger or okra or bhindi  which has absolutely smooth and creamy texture of curry and the good thing is that it is quite easy to make. I usually make this dish when I have some special guests arrival. so if you are also someone who likes to make new dishes so let’s go for it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Besani Masala Bhindi

  • Lady finger/okra/bhindi  20 gm, chopped in 1 inch piece
  • Tomato  1, finely chopped
  • Onion  1, pureed
  • Coriander powder  1 tsp
  • Red chili powder  1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder = 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Dry mango powder = 1/2 tsp
  • Curd = 2 tbsp
  • Gram flour = 2 tbsp, roasted
  • Fresh cream = 2 tsp
  • Carom seeds = 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds = 1/2 tsp
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Oil = as required
  • Asafoetida = pinch

Instructions For Making It

step 1

Firstly wash okra well and then pat dry them. Cut them into 1 inch pieces. In a pan add 4 tbsp of oil and add these chopped okra. shallow fry them till they turn golden in color and keep them aside after frying.

Now in remaining oil, add cumin seeds, carom seeds, and let them splutter for a while.

Now add pureed onion in it and cook it till it becomes slightly golden in color.

Then add finely chopped tomato and cook till tomato becomes soft. Also add all the dry spices like red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, dry mango powder and garam masala powder. Mix all the spices well till oil oozes from the mixture.

Later add curd in it and cook for 2 minutes. Then add roasted gram flour and mix it with the gravy well. You can now add enough water ass per your required consistency of gravy.

Mix all the spices well and cook for 2 minutes, then add fried okra in it and give it a nice mix. Cover the lid and turn the flame low. You have to cook it for about a minute on a low flame.

Finally, here your delicious besani masala bhindi are now ready to serve. serve them hot with chapati or paratha and enjoy.


  • Curd must not be sour.
  • Use fresh red tomatoes for making this curry ass it gives a beautiful red color.
