Banana Buns Recipe This is a popular breakfast recipe of Udupi Mangalore region of Karnataka (India). A healthy and delicious slightly sweet buns or puri is made with ripened bananas, sugar and flour. These buns are deep fried and are easy to make. They does not need much ingredients in making and the taste is amazing yet. So let’s know how to make them.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Banana Buns Recipe

  • Banana = 2, ripe
  • Sugar = 1 tbsp
  • Salt = 1/2 tsp
  • Baking soda = a pinch
  • Curd = 1/4 cup
  • All purpose flour = 2 cups
  • Cumin seeds = 1 tsp
  • Oil = for deep frying

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly remove the peel of bananas and transfer them to a bowl. Then add sugar in it and mash them well by using fork. Do not blend them into a mixer. Just mash them using fork and make a paste of it.

Step 2

Now add salt, baking soda, cumin seeds and mix well.

Step 3

Further add curd and mix well.

Step 4

Then add all purpose flour in it and knead a smooth fine dough from it.

Step 5

Cover it with a cling wrap and keep it aside for 4 to 5 hours.

Step 6

After the mentioned time, remove the cling and now pinch a lemon size potion from the dough.

Step 7

Dust some flour on the surface and start rolling the dough into circular disc.

Step 8

Make all the shapes or puri with the similar process.

Step 9

In a wok, add oil and heat it up. Then add prepared shape into the hot oil and gently press so that it turns fluffy.

Step 10

Fry them on a medium flame from both sides till they turn golden in color.

Step 11

Shake off the excess oil and then fry all the buns with the similar process.

Finally, your delicious banana buns are now ready to serve.  Serve them with dip or chutney and enjoy.
