Aloo Gosht Recipe A well tendered mutton with a delicious gravy goes perfect with the puff chapati or naan. This is one of my favorite dish which I used to make and eat. The process of making is also really easy and this goes perfect with naan or chapati as well. The tendered piece of mutton and the spicy curry makes my mouth watering. So let’s know how to make it.

Necessary Ingredients Required For Aloo Gosht Recipe

  • Mutton = 1 kg, cut into pieces
  • Potato = 500 gm, chopped
  • Onion = 2 medium size, chopped in slice
  • Onion = 3, medium size, paste
  • Red chili powder = 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder = 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder = 1 tsp
  • Green chili = 3, slit
  • Ginger and garlic paste = 1 tsp
  • Curd = 1/4 cup
  • Salt = as per taste
  • Oil = 3/4 cup

Whole Spices

  • black cardamom = 1
  • Cinnamon stick = 1 inch piece
  • Bay leaf = 2
  • Cumin seeds = 1/2 tsp
  • Cloves = 2
  • Black peppercorns = 5 to 6
  • Mace = 1/4 tsp
  • Nutmeg = 1/4 tsp

Dry roast the whole spices except bay leaf and crush them into a coarse powder.

Instructions For Making It

Step 1

Firstly in a pressure cooker or a pan, add oil and heat it up. Add sliced onion in it and fry it till it turns brown.

Step 2

Once the onion fried well, take them out from the pressure cooker and keep them aside.

Step 3

In remaining oil, add mutton and crushed whole spices with bay leaf and fry it well.

Step 4

Now add ginger garlic paste and onion paste. Saute till it turn aromatic and mixes well.

Step 5

Now add all the spices powder like salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and also add slit green chilies mix well till aroma comes from it.

Step 6

Add a cup of water in it and cover the lid.

Step 7

Pressure cook it till it tenders 80%. Cook till it takes 2 to 3 whistles.

Step 8

Once the mutton tenders well, open the lid and add fried crushed onion with curd and potato and mix well for 4 to 5 minutes.

Step 9

Add water as per your required consistency of gravy or shorba. Cook it now till potato tenders.

Step 10

Finally, add chopped coriander and serve.

Your delicious aloo gosht is now ready. Serve it hot with naan or chapati and enjoy.
